Kinky Friedman is pulling your leg

I didn't cover it when it first came out, mostly because I wanted an opportunity to call around a little and see if there was any truth to it at all, which there doesn't seem to be: Charles Kuffner had this about a rumor that Kinky Friedman might run for Senate as a major party candidate.
My favorite part was this, from Kinky Central:
People of both parties have been in touch with him, said Laura Stromberg, who was Friedman's spokeswoman during his independent bid for governor.
"He's not calling them. They're coming to him," she said.
Friedman, who is finishing up his book on his race for governor, has said if he ran again, it likely would be under a major-party label given the obstacles facing an independent candidate.
Today, he said, "I think all options are on the table, but I certainly haven't given a lot of thought to running for anything. I've talked with some Republicans and some Democrats about various possibilities."
I got curious and decided to call around a little. Amber Moon, Communications Director from the Texas State Democratic Party, said, "The Texas Democratic Party is certainly not courting a candidate like Kinky Friedman to run for Senate. What party would want to put up a candidate who came in fourth in a four-way race? If Kinky Friedman had a party, he would have embarrassed it with his candidacy." Amber also added that his campaign and his stances on many issues did not represent the values or the positions of the Democratic Party, "...nor does he have the qualifications or the background to be an effective United States Senator."
Representatives of the Texas Republican Party could not be reached for comment.
So we know half of it isn't true. Maybe the state GOP is so tired of John Cornyn, they're going to punish him with a primary against Kinky Friedman. I wonder if Leininger is in on this?
