Matt Angle is a veteran of national and state Democratic politics with a proven record of success. Over his 21 years as a political professional and during his tenure as Chief of Staff to former Rep. Martin Frost of Texas, Angle won a reputation as a shrewd and practical problem solver. While not a household name, Angle is recognized as one of the Democratic Party’s most creative, aggressive and successful political planners and strategists.
While Angle’s roots are deeply planted in Texas, his no-nonsense political skills have made him one of Washington’s most respected voices within Democratic circles. Since 2005, Angle has served as Director of the Texas Democratic Trust, providing both financial and strategic assistance to key Democratic efforts in Texas. Angle also founded and directs the Lone Star Project, a federal political action committee which is widely recognized as one of our State’s the most effective and aggressive organizations providing political research, policy analysis and also provides direct and in-kind assistance to candidates in key competitive races. Following the 2006 elections, The Fort Worth Star Telegram said the, “Lone Star Project supported [2006 winner, Paula] Hightower Pierson, along with other Texas House upset winners and U.S. Rep.-elect Nick Lampson. Matt Angle was raised in Haltom City, Texas and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Matt and his wife Dolly have two sons, Luke 19, and Will 16.
